Who we are
We are a movement of Rubanda. In Kinyarwanda, Rubanda means ‘We the People.’So MRD is a movement of “We the People”; a coalition of Rwandese Republicans and Democrats, from all 3 Rwandan ethnic groups (Twa, Tutsi and Hutu), who exasperated by the monarchical, tyrannical system and ideology of the RPF, have united forces and energy to restore the Republic and Democracy of Rwanda. Our Mission
MRD movement is a response and answer to the cries and prayers of Rwandan citizens for their emancipation. MRD is a “We the People”‘s movement (RUBANDA) whose main mission is to restore and preserve the Rwanda Republic which was stifled by the feudal-monarchical ideology of FPR/UNAR, which imposed a hegemonic and apartheid system since July 1994.
Our Vision
MRD aspire to be a movement of all Rwandans who believe that the only way to the freedom Rubanda is a power and policy based on republican ideology as well as the rejection of the feudal ideology of the FPR. MRD wants every Rwandan to have the same rights, to be free and to be equal before the law. Our vision is that the power be for the people and by the people.
Our Values and Principles
Just like its predecessor UNAR before the 1959 Rwanda Revolution, in order to remain in power, RPF has deliberately chosen to build its system on three pillars, namely:
- Division (dividing Rwandans)
- Lies and deceit (manipulation, propaganda and control)
- Terror (intimidating the citizens and conducting terrorism acts throughout the region
To succeed in defeating this system and uprooting its pillars within the Rwandan society, MRD’s decisions and actions are guided by the following strong values. These are put into practice daily by our leaders, with the concern constant to ensure the unity of the people and restore the Republic.

Kagame has closed all political space and imprisoned all real former presidential contenders. RESISTING the Kagame regime is a must! MRD will carry out political activities, revolutionary actions and civil disobedience, using all means and methods recognized by international law. We will do everything in our power to help fellow Rwandans recover their rights, their dignity, and their physical and moral integrity. We are determined to defend human rights and to restore the legitimacy of national and international laws protecting all citizens. We will fight for those rights until victory is won!
